What it actually does: releases oxygen inside pores, killing acne bacteria (which can’t survive oxygen) and clearing plugs. Bacteria don’t develop resistance to it, which is more than can be said for antibiotics.
Who it’s for: red, inflamed pimples and pustules. For blackheads and clogged texture, salicylic acid is the better tool: different jobs.
How to use it: 2.5% works, start there. Spot-treat or thin all-over layer at night. If that’s too irritating for your skin, then go for a cleanser and wash off after 45-60 seconds.
Keep apart from: retinol (BP can degrade it, alternate nights), vitamin C.
Honest expectations: visible improvement in two to four weeks for mild-to-moderate inflamed acne. Cystic, deep, or scarring acne is dermatologist territory - no OTC product fixes it and we won’t pretend otherwise.
