Halal certification

Halal certification for cosmetics verifies that a product contains no ingredients derived from prohibited sources (certain animal derivatives, alcohol in specific forms) and was manufactured without cross-contamination from them.

What to know: certification comes from accredited certifying bodies, in Pakistan, look for certifiers accredited by the Pakistan National Accreditation Council. A printed “halal” with no certifying body named is a claim, not a certification. Common ingredient questions: glycerin and collagen can be plant-, synthetic-, or animal-derived: certified products have verified the source.
