Lactic Acid (AHA)

glycolic’s gentler sibling - exfoliates and hydrates at the same time, the right first acid for most people.

What it actually does: a larger AHA molecule that works more at the surface, so less irritation for slightly slower results. Uniquely, it’s also a humectant - it exfoliates while pulling water in, which no other common acid does.

Who it’s for: first-time acid users, dry or sensitive skin that still wants exfoliation, dullness, mild texture.

How to use it: 5–10%, at night, once or twice a week to start. Same sun rules as every AHA: sunscreen daily or don’t bother.

Honest expectations: softer, brighter skin within two to three weeks. For deeper texture or stubborn pigmentation, you may eventually graduate to glycolic - or find you never need to.
