From April to September, Lahore is a steam room with traffic. If your skin is oily, this is your hardest season, and most “oily skin” advice written for mild climates will make it worse.
The counterintuitive rules:
1. You cannot wash the oil away. Cleansing more than twice a day strips your barrier, your skin panic-produces more oil, and by 2pm you’re worse off. Twice daily, gentle, done.
2. Skipping moisturiser backfires. Dehydrated oily skin over-produces oil. You want the lightest possible gel, and in peak humidity, a well-formulated gel might genuinely be enough on its own.
3. Your routine should get lighter in summer, not longer. Morning: gentle cleanse → light gel moisturiser (or niacinamide serum doing double duty) → gel or fluid sunscreen. Night: cleanse → salicylic acid (2–3 nights a week) → gel moisturiser. That’s it. Five products, two of them shared.
Texture is everything in humidity. The same ingredients in a cream that felt fine in January will slide off your face in July. Look for: gel, gel-cream, fluid, “oil-free.” Blotting papers midday beat re-washing: they take the shine, not the barrier.
Monsoon addendum: humidity spikes + sweat + hair oils sliding onto your hairline \= the August breakout pattern is real. Keep hair oiling to wash days, and a salicylic cleanser earns its keep this month.
